Very aromatic with lovely peppery spice overlaying its concentrated berry fruit and earthy character.
Wine: Mullineux Iron Syrah 2017
Region/Country: Swartland, South Africa
Production Method: Organic farming. After about 4 days, fermentation began with indigenous yeasts and lasted about 10 days. A further four weeks of skin contact was given after which the wine was drained and pressed to barrel for malolactic fermentation and maturation.
Style: The IRON is always the fullest bodied of our Single Terroir Syrahs. On the nose, the 2017 is spicy and savoury, with dark berries. The palate has soft, velvety yet firm tannins with hints of orange peel, cloves, white pepper.
Pairing Suggestion: Grilled and roasted meats
Mullineux was established in 2007, when Chris and Andrea Mullineux settled in the Swartland wine region, 60 kilometers north of Cape Town. Within a very short time period the winery established itself as one of South Africa’s most celebrated wine brands, both locally and on the international front. The Swartland is perfectly suited to natural methods of farming. The approach at Mullineux is to work as naturally as possible, both in terms of their viticulture and in the winery, with sustainable farming in place and no additions made to any of the wines.
